SCHÜCO CARBON CONTROL

Building stock as raw material warehouses of the future

Today’s buildings can become the raw material warehouses of the future once their usage phase ends. Certified systems help to adhere to the requirements of a circular economy and ensure functioning processes.

The basis for every certification, e.g. in line with the Cradle to Cradle concept, is that all materials used within the system can be fed back fully into the material cycle and recycled into new materials of a similar quality. This process saves primary resources and reduces carbon emissions. The Internet of Façades ID (IoF ID) by Schüco supports this process with consistent documentation of material data, making it easier to separate the recycled materials into types and avoid waste.

With more than 75 certified aluminium systems on offer, Schüco is a trailblazer in the implementation of the Cradle to Cradle principle in the construction industry. Likewise with PVC-U products, Schüco is contributing towards a circular economy and minimising carbon emissions. This is confirmed by the awarding of the VinylPlus® product label, with Schüco being the first company in the sector to receive this honour.

As part of the newly developed RE:CORE programme, Schüco also collects PVC-U material from old windows and profile remnants worldwide and feeds it back into the material cycle without any significant reduction in quality. It is therefore easier for all Schüco partners to contribute to the material cycle.
