Object description

Object description

At the start of 2000, a redevelopment began at the mouth of the River Weser with the creation of “Havenwelten”. The unique location on the waterfront is emphasized and recalls the maritime tradition of the port. The new striking focus of this locale is the 147 m, 20-storey Sail City high-rise building. This expressive building has been modelled on a billowed out sail turned toward the sea. High above, at 78 m, a horizontal command bridge with a mast tower supports the nautical associations. There is a visitors’ platform there,
which is accessible to the public, with a crow’s nest view of the Weser and the North Sea from a dizzy height.
