The new trade union building, in a central location across from the VW factory and the main railway station, contributes to Wolfsburg’s modern urban development. The building turns towards the Volkswagen plant like a camera. On a base clad in dark red brick is a four-storey rectangular structure characterized by a “crinkled” façade featuring floorto- ceiling glass elements combined with Corten steel. The concrete frame containing the aluminium all-glass curtain wall FW 50+ embodies lightness and transparency, standing for a modern, flexible trade union and a new generation of employees.
